Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. September 2019
By the rate of return for a month, the sectors of CII with public issue had the following breakdown of the results (YTD): open-ended funds got the first place -0.19% (-0.74% for the month)), closed-end funds took second place -7.36% (-0.02% for the month), interval funds were the third -14.42% (-0.72% for the month).
OPEN-ENDED FUNDS
According to the UAIB, the value of the net assets (NAV) of 17 open-ended CII as at September 30, 2019 amounted to UAH 85,88M. According to the data provided at the end of September, the total increase of net assets amounted toUAH 169.23k (+0.20%).
The vast majority of the sector's funds completed the month with a decrease in investment and only six recorded an increase. The scope for rates of return of open-ended funds ranged from +1.16% to -5.16%.
According to the results of September, the following funds were the leaders of growth in the sector of open-ended CII:
«UNIVER.UA/Iaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii» (+UAH 296.13k (+28.85%)) - due to a positive revaluation of the components of the portfolio and due to the additional placement of certificates (+35.85% in circulation), a net inflow of UAH 354.95k was obtained;
«OTP Klasychnyi» (+UAH 349.70k (+5.89%)) - due to attracting investors' funds (+4.67% in circulation) and growth of the investment portfolio, the fund received UAH 278.77k net inflow;
The following funds made the biggest payments to investors in September:
«Argentum» (-UAH 150.56k (-7.61%)) the largest net outflow in the sector, which is associated with the redemption of certificates from investors (-7,125 in circulation), led to a net capital outflow of UAH 140.65k;
«OTP Fond Aktsii» (-UAH 58.41k (-0.51%)) - the redemption from the fund investors a large number of investment certificates (-0.53% in circulation) resulted in a net capital outflow of UAH 60.30k;
«KINTO-Klasychnyi» (+UAH 13.21k (+0.04%)) - similarly, investors' filing for redemption of 55 certificates resulted in losses of the fund of UAH 31.21k.
The list of key players in the sector in September was as follows: «KINTO-Klasychnyi» (35.35% of the total NAV (UAH 30.36M)) took the first place among the open-end CII in terms of market share, the second one was the «OTP Fond Aktsii» (13.15% (UAH 11.30M), the third got the fund «UNIVER.UA/Myhailo Grushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnyh Paperiv» (8.72% (UAH 7.49M)). Fourth place was taken by the fund «OTP Klasychnyi» (7.32% (UAH 6.29M)), the fund «KINTO-Ekviti» (6.16% (UAH 5.29M)) closes the top five.
The following funds were among the leaders in terms of rate of return:
«OTP Klasychnyi» (+1.16%), UNIVER.UA/Taras Shevchenko: Fond Zaoshchadzhen (+1.10%), «Altus – Zbalansovanyi»(+0.97%).
The worst indicators in July were demonstrated by funds: «UNIVER.UA/Iaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii» (-5.16%), Nadbannia (-3.46%), «KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi» (-2.20%).
INTERVAL FUNDS
In September, the review included 4 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 3.13M. Compared to the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV decreased by UAH 25.56k (-0.96%).
All funds in the sector experienced an increase in NAV as a result of positive revaluation of
components of investment portfolios, no net capital flows were recorded.
In September, based on the rate of return, funds in the sector had the following breakdown of the results: «TASK UKRAINSKYI KAPITAL» (+0.38%), «Optimum» (-0.66%) and «PARYTET» (-1.88%).
CLOSED-END FUNDS
The net asset value of 2 closed-end CII included in September review, at the end of the month amounted to UAH 12.58M. According to the provided data, due to negative revaluation of investment portfolios the total NAV of these funds increased by UAH 40.26k (+0.32%).
