Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. July 2018
For the second consecutive month, Ukrainian stock exchanges closed in the "green" zone, the UX index increased by +3.15%, the PFTS index added +9.89%.
In July, all sectors of public investment institutions completed the month with the following indicators: sector of closed-end funds became the leader by rates of return "since the beginning of the year" +17.94% (+8.72% for the month)), the second place was taken by open-ended CII +7.63% (+3.47% for the month), and interval CII fell in the third place with an index of +1.48% (+4.38% for the month).
OPEN- ENDED FUNDS
According to the UAIB, the value of net assets of 15 open-ended CII as at July 31, 2018 amounted to UAH 84.31 mln. According to the indicators at the end of July, the total increase of NAV amounted to +UAH 2,683.29 thsd. (+3.29%).
All sector’s funds completed the month with increasing returns, the range of returns of open-ended CII varied from +11.99% to +0.77%.
According to the results of July, the leaders of the sector's growth were:
"VSI" (+UAH 296.82 thsd. (+20.30%)) - due to a positive revaluation of portfolio’s components and to the additional placement of certificates (+19.00% in circulation) fund received a net inflow amounted to +UAH 331.04 thsd.
“OTP Fond Aktsii" (+UAH 666.34 thsd. (+4.97%)) - due to attraction of investors' funds (+ 0.17% in circulation) and growth of investment portfolio fund received +UAH 29.71 thsd. of net inflow;
“UNIVER.UA/Volodymyr Velykyi: Fond Zbalansovanyi” (+UAH 58.53 thsd. (+3.86%)) - the same, due to a positive reassessment of portfolio’s components and additional placement of certificates
(+1.69% in circulation) received a net inflow amounted to + UAH 25.77 thsd.
The largest payments to investors in July were made by the following funds:
“KINTO-Klasychnyi” (+UAH 645.29 thsd. (+2.21%)) - despite the positive revaluation of portfolio’s components, the largest net outflow in the sector, which was related to the redemption of certificates from investors (-0.39% in circulation), led to the outflow of net capital in the amount of - UAH 115.00 thsd.;
"Altus-Zbalansovanyi" (-UAH 70.03 thsd. (-2.26%)) - redemption of 21 investment certificates from the fund’s participants caused a net outflow of capital in the amount of – UAH 93.42 thsd.;
"OTP Klasychnyi" (-UAH 15.51 thsd. (-0.31%)) - presentation for redemption of 23 certificates by investors led to fund’s losses amounted to “net” – UAH 73.58 thsd.
The list of key players in the sector in July was as follows: the first place among the open-ended CII in terms of market share was taken by the fund “KINTO-Klasychnyi" (35.46% of the aggregate NAV (UAH 29.89 mln.)), the second one was taken by the fund “OTP Fond Aktsii” (16.70% (UAH 14.03 mln.), the third place was taken by the fund "UNIVER.UA/Mykhaylo Hrushevsky: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv” (7.78% (UAH 6.56 mln.)). The fourth place was fixed by the fund “Sofiiivskyi”, "KINTO-Ekviti" (6.78% (UAH 5.71 mln.)) has completed five of the sector’s leaders.
The highest rates of return were demonstrated by the following funds:
“Nadbannia” (+11.99%), “Sofiivskyi” (+10.63%) and “OTP Fond Aktsii” (+4.78%).
The lowest indicators of changes in the value of their securities in July were demonstrated by funds: "Altus-Zbalansovanyi” (+0.77%), "Altus-Deposyt" (+1.08%) and "VSI" (+1.09%).
INTERVAL FUNDS
In July, the survey included 3 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 2.95 mln. Compared with the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV of funds decreased by –UAH 258.29 thsd. (-8.05%).
According to the results of the month,fund “Parytet”became the leader in the sector (+81.81 thsd. (+5.63%)) - due to a positive revaluation of portfolio’s components.
The largest reductions of NAVs were recorded by the following funds:
“TASK Ukrainskyi Kapital” (-UAH 96.90 thsd. (-7.48%)) - due to the purchase of a significant amount of securities from investors (-29.49% in circulation), the fund received a net outflow of –UAH 454.23 thsd.;
"Optimum" (-UAH 2.58 thsd. (-0.79%)) - the negative change of NAV occurred due to the reduction of value of the investment portfolio’s components.
Funds “TASK Ukrainskyi Kapital” (+8.29%) and “Parytet” (+5.63%) became the leaders in terms of return, and the worst indicators of changes in the value of their securities were fixed by the fund “Optimum” (-0.79%).
CLOSED-ENDFUNDS
The net asset value of 2 closed-end CII included in July survey, at the end of the month amounted to UAH 14.09mln. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds increased by +UAH 2,081.44 thsd. (+17.33%). Such a significant increase was due to the attraction of investors' assets by the fund "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (+UAH 2,013.85 thsd. (+18.30%)) - an additional placement of equities (+6.81% in circulation) allowed the fund to increase the inflow of net capital in the amount of +UAH 789.80 thsd.
According to the results of July, the rates of funds’ returns in the sector were as follows: "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (+10.76%) and "TASK Universal" (+6.68%).
