Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. May 2023

According to the results of the month, the Ukrainian stock market indices closed with the following indicators: the UX index increased by +9.39%, and the PFTS index ended May unchanged, 0.00%.

According to the indicator of rate of return "since the beginning of the year", funds with a public offer were distributed as follows: closed-end funds took the first place (+11.41% (+0.64% for the month)), the second place was taken by the sector of interval CII (+3.54% ), open-ended CIIs were on the third place (+3.33% (+0.32% for the month)).


OPEN-ENDEDFUNDS

According to the UAIB, the value of net assets (NAV) of 16 open-ended CIIs as at 05/31/2023 amounted to UAH 145.56 M. According to the indicators at the end of the previous period, the total increase of the NAV amounted to +UAH 810.20 k (+1.29%). In May, the amount of investors' fundraising exceeded the amount of payments, so the total net inflow of funds in the sector amounted to +UAH 62.58 k[1].

Open-ended CIIs' rate of return ranged from +2.82% to -2.37%.

According to the results of May, the following funds became the leaders in attracting investors' funds in the sector:

"VSI" (+UAH 193.66 k (+13.64%)) - increase in NAV and attraction of investors' funds (+12.38% in circulation) allowed the fund to receive +UAH 177.10 k inflow of net capital;

"KINTO-Klasychnyi" (+UAH 624.53 k (+2.85%)) - due to the positive revaluation of the investment portfolio's components and an increase of CIs in circulation by +0.02%, the fund received +UAH 320.43 k of net capital inflow;

"KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi" (+UAH 9.39 k (+0.20%)) - likewise, due to the increase of the NAV and attraction of investors' funds, it received +UAH 2.83 k "net".

The following funds made the largest payments to investors in May:

Sofiivskyi" (-UAH 180.47 k (-6.05%)) - due to significant payments to investors (-3.79% in circulation), the fund recorded the largest net outflow of capital in the sector in the amount of -UAH 112.39 k ;

"KINTO-Ekviti" (+UAH 4.46 k (+7.60%)) - despite the increase in the value of the investment portfolio's components, the purchase of a small number of investment certificates from fund's participants (-0.61% in circulation) led to an outflow of capital in the amount of -UAH 9.90 k.

The main players in the sector were distributed as follows: the first place among the open-ended CIIs in terms of market share was taken by the "OTP Klasychnyi" fund (49.01% of the total NAV (UAH 71.33 M)), "KINTO-Klasychnyi" fund was the second one (15.50 % (UAH 22.56 M)), the third place was taken by the fund "OTP Fond Aktsii" (7.25% (UAH 10.55 M)). The fourth place was held by the fund "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (6.15% (UAH 8.95 M)), the fund "UNIVER.UA/Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv" (4.20% (UAH 6.11 M)) completed the top five leaders of the sector.

The following funds demonstrated the highest level of rate of return:

"KINTO-Klasychnyi" (+2.82%), "UNIVER.UA/Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv" (+1.40%) and "VSI" (+1.12%).

The lowest indicators of changes in the value of their securities were shown in May by the following funds: "Sofiivskyi" (-2.37%), "Nadbannia" (-1.73%) and "Arhentum" (-1.31%).

 

INTERVAL FUNDS

In May, 2 interval CIIs were included in the review, the net assets of which, according to the UAIB, were equal to UAH 10.06 M.

However, the provided data was not enough, which made it impossible to conduct a comparative analysis of the activity of interval CII.


CLOSED-END FUNDS

In May, 2 closed-end CIIs were included in the review, the value of whose net assets at the end of the month amounted to UAH 6.77 M. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds increased by +UAH 40.90 k (+0.61%).

No funds made payments to investors or attracted their funds, so no changes in net capital were recorded in the sector.

According to the results of May, by the level of rate of return funds in the sector were distributed as follows: "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (+3.33%) and "KINTO-Hold" (-2.04%).
