Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. February 2020

In February, Ukrainian stock market indices closed with a significant increase in indicators. According to the results of the month, the UX index increased by 4.88%, and the PFTS index increased by 4.65%.

By the rate of return for a month, the sectors of CII with public issue had the following breakdown of the results: closed-end funds (+2.74%), open-ended funds took second place (+2.42%), interval funds were the third (+0.54%).

OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to the UAIB, the value of the net assets (NAV) of 16 open-ended CII as at 28 February 2020 amounted to UAH 85.51M. According to the data provided at the end of February, the total increase of net assets amounted toUAH 1470.91k (+2.24%). Due to significant attraction of investors' funds, the total net inflow in the sector amounted to UAH 194.46k[1]

Open-ended funds ended the month mainly with higher rates of return, with only four funds falling. , the scope for rates of return of open-ended CII ranged from + 7.09% to -3.91%.

According to the results of February, the following funds were the leaders of growth in the sector of open-ended CII:

«VSI» (+UAH 100.57k (+5.70%)) – received the largest inflow of net capital in the amount of UAH 104.98k. due to the largest in the sector of attracting investors (+ 5.98% in circulation);

«UNIVER.UA/Iaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii» (+UAH 42.90k (+3.02%)) – as well, the additional placement of certificates (+ 7.21% in circulation) allowed the fund to receive +UAH 103.5k;

«KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi» (+UAH 212.85k (+8.69%)) – due to the increase in the value of net assets and attracting investors' funds, the fund received a net inflow of + UAH 39.74k.

The following funds made the biggest payments to investors in February:

 «KINTO-Klasychnyi» (+UAH 160.05k (+0.55%)) – a net capital outflow of -UAH 47.64k associated with the redemption of certificates from investors (-0.16% in circulation);

«UNIVER.UA/Volodymyr Velykyi: Fond Zbalansovanyi» (+UAH 88.53k (+5.29%)) – the redemption of 2 certificates from investors, led to a net capital outflow of UAH 6.16k.

«KINTO-Klasychnyi» (34.39% of the total NAV (UAH 29.41M)) took the first place among the open-end CII in terms of market share, the second one was the «OTP Fond Aktsiy» (11,47% of total NAV (UAH 9.81M)), the third got the fund «OTP Klasychnyi» (10.02% (UAH 8.57M). Fourth place was taken by the fund «UNIVER.UA/Myhailo Grushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnyh Paperiv » (9.42% (UAH 8.05M), the fund «Sofiivskyi» (6.26% (UAH 5.36M)) closes the top five.

The following funds were among the leaders in terms of rate of return: «KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi» (+7.09%), «UNIVER.UA/Taras Shevchenko: Fond Zaoshchadzhen» (+6.03%) and «UNIVER.UA/Volodymyr Velykyi: Fond Zbalansovanyi» (+5.65%).

The worst indicators in February were demonstrated by funds: «UNIVER.UA/Iaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii» (-3.91%), «VSI» (-0.26%) and «Altus – Depozyt» (-0.10%).

 

INTERVAL FUNDS

In February, the review included 3 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 2.70M. Compared to the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV increased by UAH 37.53k (+1.55%).

In February, no interval fund was able to raise investor funds, NAV changes were due to a positive revaluation of components of investment portfolios.

Based on the rate of return, funds in the sector had the following breakdown of

the results:  «PARYTET» (+1.73%) та «TASK UKRAINSKYI KAPITAL» (+1.26%).

 

CLOSED-END FUNDS

The net asset value of 2 closed-end CII included in February review, at the end of the month amounted to UAH 12.46M. According to the provided data, the total NAV of these funds increased by UAH 198.57k (+1.62%).

The biggest payments to investors in February were made by«Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi» - due to the redemption of a significant number of shares (-2.91% in circulation), the fund suffered net outflow of UAH -348.13k

Based on the rates of return, funds in the sector had the following breakdown of the results: «Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi» (+4.74%) and «TASK Universal» (+0.75%).
